Spiritual Folk Art
This body of work is characterized by a naïve, child-like style, usually filled with decorations and doodles, where the rules of drawing proportion and perspective are less important than actually attempting to draw back the curtain. Inspired by the bright colors and handcrafted shapes of lithographs, woodblocks, letterpress and screen-prints, this work is propaganda for the simple life. It’s art, it’s activism it’s signposts for the seeker.
“I am the way the truth and the life.” John 14:6
Amen and A man who walked his talk. My favorite thing about Jesus is he is always seen pointing to his heart indicating the love within it is who he really is, and who we really are. When I see his heart looking back at mine I can’t help but feel it’s saying “You there, yes you with the heart. I see you and you are the way, the truth and the life.”
Leap Of Faith
“The mind creates the abyss, the heart crosses it.” -Sri Nisargadatta
I took a detail of “The Creation of Adam,” the fresco painting by Michelangelo, which forms part of the Sistine Chapel’s ceiling, and added a figure leaping from the human hand to the hand of God. Reminding us that though the Divine may seem universes apart, it is closer than we think and always one step away. May we learn to walk, leap, bound, fly and soar onward, upward and Godward. Always.
There Is Always Work To Be Done, There Is Always Wisdom To Gain. This piece I see as two tunnels or two magnificent temple hallways. As the viewer you are placed at the entrance having to choose which corridor to traverse. Thankfully, whichever path you choose inherently contains the other. There is no work that does not yield wisdom, and no wisdom which does not entreaty work. What are you hallway-ting for?
Tree Of Life
It has been said that Buddha was a Christ and Jesus was a Buddha. Both used their lives as maps towards realization of the Innermost. The spark, seed and essence of life itself. The Love and Wisdom that beats our own hearts, courses through our veins, orbits the planets and spins an atom. Let us gather around the tree of our own Innermost and listen in reverence to the teachings it bestows in every precious moment.
Sun & Moon
The Sun shines with life and light, the Moon shines with mystery and reflection. By day or by night, may we all remember to radiate the luminosity within us. Let there be light!
The Heart Within The Heart
It’s amazing what you will find if you just keep looking. Dive deep. And deeper still. Until you find yourself no longer you, surrounded in wonder, suspended in stillness – living the radiance within.
Look around Brothers & Sisters and rejoice! Today is spring! Everyday is Spring in our hearts.
Blessed Mother…. The Mother’s Love always brings me to my knees. It is a fountain. Eternal. Live-giving. It destroys illusions and fantasies. It is the mystery and truth itself. I surrender all to the temple of your heart, and I give thanks.
In Buddhism a bodhisattva is an enlightenment (bodhi) being (sattva). Traditionally, a bodhisattva is anyone who, motivated by great compassion, has generated a spontaneous wish to attain Buddhahood for the benefit of all sentient beings. May we all walk with this wish alive in our hearts – to achieve the greatest life can offer – so we may offer it to others.
Ganesha is the lord of success and destroyer of evils and impediments. He is also worshipped as the God of education, knowledge, wisdom and wealth and, as such, he is your ally and friend. His greatest teaching is that enduring love overcomes all obstacles. So set your sights upon love’s glorious vision and allow Ganesha to remind you that victory always lies in the timeless practice of patience and persistence. Om Gam Ganapataye Namaha!
The Divine Mother is said to live within our hearts – and not only do I recommend you go looking for her there, but as you do – say “Thank You” for the opportunity that life enables us to do so. Each time we say “Thank You” from our hearts we honor her and we honor our hearts. The natural response to “Thank You” is “You are Welcome.” So the Mother is constantly welcoming us home. Continually whispering “You are Welcome, in here. In my arms. In the love of your own heart.” Gratitude therefore, is the seed and soil to Love’s unending harvest.
